Royal Court Theatre and Courtyard Restaurant

Royal Court Liverpool is the friendliest theatre in the city. With pre-show dining and a range of drinks served before and after the show, a trip to The Court is night of great entertainment.

The challenge

A historic art deco building which has been modernised and refreshed, The Royal Court is a mix of modern service standards in a traditional setting. The theatre produces eight long running plays every year, mostly comedies and musicals.

The recently refurbished Courtyard Bar & Kitchen forms part of the same building as the theatre and is the perfect place to go pre or post-show, or indeed any time of the day. With stylish booths and tables in the upstairs restaurant giving unrivalled views of St George’s Hall and the covered outdoor space it provides the ideal place for a drink and some nibbles, whatever the weather.

maximum recycling - Royal Court Theatre Liverpool

“We have maintained our contract with Fresh Start as they provide a real maximum recycling solution which aligns with our values in terms of minimising our environmental impact, but also because they have been flexible in terms of our varying requirements throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, and again more recently as we have reopened.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Fresh Start to any Liverpool businesses, particularly those in the entertainment, leisure or hospitality sector, as the service is incredibly reliable, the recycling is maximised, the cost is competitive and the drivers are friendly and helpful to boot!”

Bob Smith, Building Manager at The Royal Court Liverpool

The solution

Operating to provide a valuable service to those living in Liverpool and beyond, both the theatre and restaurant are conscious of their environmental impact and as such have chosen to work with Carbon Conscious Fresh Start Waste, to provide zero waste to landfill and maximum recycling levels.

Segregation of cardboard, glass and food from general waste through bins for each waste streams maximises the level of recycling as allows recyclable material to be stored for collection without being contaminated with non-recyclable material.

The results

Fresh Start’s split body vehicles mean less trips to collect the segregated materials and further reduces the carbon impact of the waste management strategy at the theatre and restaurant.

Recycling levels now exceed 90% at the theatre and 92% at the restaurant, and higher levels are achieved on a regular basis.
